Resume of Dr. Amrit Singh, MD, FACC

 

Born in Village Chathe Sekhwan Sangrur, Punjab India . Studied in Village school and stood first in the SANGRUR district in fifth grade board exam. Studied for five years in Manupur village school near Khanna and graduated in Matriculation from Malwa Khalsa High School Dhuri. My name is on Merit list board in Dhuri in 1963. Took 1st individual prize  in declamation contest in Malerkotla zonal level in Matriculation.. Was captain of football and volleyball team in high school.

 

Graduated from Government Ranbir college Sangrur, Punjab in 1965. In pre-University obtained fifth position in Punjab University and number one in English in the Punjab University. Also won number 1st prizes in declamation contests in Government Ranbir college about Man Made Fibers and Space Travel..

 

Graduated in 1970 from Government Medical College Patiala Punjabi University in first division. Won first prize in debate competition opposing family planning in India in Punjabi University. Gained first prizes in all India inter-medical debate competitions in Jaipur and Bikaner in India 1969.

 

In 1971, passed examination from Kabul for educational council for foreign medical graduates ECFMG, a qualifying examination to take MD training in the United States of America.

 

Completed 7 years of post graduation in Los Angeles from three universities University of Irvine California, University Loma Linda Los Angeles and University of California USC Los Angeles. Now practicing as internal medicine and cardiology consultant in Los Angeles, California.

Represented India in 1978, during 200 centenary  of Los Angeles city on NBC in a program - FACES. Doing a social service for Sikh community and Gurdwara’s of Los Angeles since 1972. Give free medical treatment to all local priests and visiting Sikh preachers and parents from India who come to see theirs.children in USA.

Is active in doing liaison between elected US officials and the Sikh community.

 

With God’s grace, has been helping to educate 35 poor students Vanzara and Sikligar students in V. Meerpur, UP India, under the guidance of Giani Surander Singh from New Zealand. 

 

In 2021, did a volunteer cardiology consultation for one week in charity hospitals, Prabh Asra and Terra Terra hospital in Chandigarh.

Established a cardiac lab in Prabh Asra hospital doing all cardiology work up just short of cardiac catheterization.

 

One week service in Guru Nanak International Charitable Mission Trust Hospital at v. Kukar Majra near Banga.in Punjab.

 

In collaboration with the Friends of punjab foundation, FOPF,  opened a Banda Singh Bahadur Farm Center, Chathe Sekhwan,  Sangrur, Des Punjab, India.  BSBFC a red fort like building, this center has all the appliances for agriculture including a combine, a Massey Ferguson tractor, a rotabeter, a trolley and all other needed farm appliance for a cost of Rs100000.00  All equipment is given at no profit cost to the poor farmers in our village. It is run by Banda Singh Bahadur Farm Center Committee coordinated.. We also ran a three month computer course for the students in our village and majority of the students were girls. The students are given an ISO certificate so that they can get good jobs in departmental stores in the cities. I also hold a weekly telemedicine clinic s in 3 villages. Established a smart classroom in our Primary school, built by my father, Sardar Pritam Singh Sekhon in 1945; a Librarary and Wi-Fi..

 

Dr. Singh, completed two 26.2 miles Los Angeles marathons each in 6 hours. And his hobbies include tennis, swimming volleyball and football.

 

Dr. Singh draws his strength to do all this from Gurbani of Siri Guru Granth Sahib ji.
